Ivan Nathanael Lukanda

I am a media and communications scholar, with a PhD in journalism obtained from Stellenbosch University (South Africa) in 2018. I hold a Master of Arts in Journalism and Communication obtained from a sandwich programme between Makerere University and Orebro University in Sweden.

I am a fellow of the African Humanities Programme supported by the American Academy of Learned Societies (2022-2023). I'm also an early career researcher on the Africa Urbanities Project supported by the Andrew Mellon Foundation (2019-2024).

I have worked as a freelance journalist with Uganda’s Sunday Vision newspaper and the Uganda Radio Network. I was a Unesco visiting fellow at Daystar University in Nairobi-Kenya in 2013. My broad research area is science communication focusing on food as a form of communication.
