After starting out my undergraduate studies in the geological sciences, I quickly realized my interest in environmental pollutants and thus decided to pursue a master's degree in environmental science. During that time, I got introduced to the analysis of environmental pollutants. Wastewater had always been a fascinating subject for me, and so after acquiring my degree, I took the opportunity for an internship at a Swedish university (at SLU Uppsala), to work on the analysis of antibiotics in wastewater. After that, I started my doctoral education at Lund University, now focusing on ozonation as a removal technique for pharmaceuticals from wastewater.

I enjoy the detective's work of identifying these so-called micropollutants in our wastewater and investigating how they could be removed. Working with pharmaceuticals that are found in almost every household, like ibuprofen or diclofenac, makes my work feel relatable and important.
