Immaculate Motsi-Omoijiade

Dr Immaculate (Mac) Motsi-Omoijiade, is a legal academic specialising in the technical, legal,
regulatory, governance and ethics of emerging data driven technologies and is currently the
Responsible AI lead at the AIC, Charles Sturt University. Prior to joining the AICF, Mac worked
as a research analyst in Science and Emerging Technology at RAND Europe where she
worked on projects spanning AI, Blockchain, DLT, Regulatory Technology (Regtech), Smart
Contracts, Cryptocurrencies, Quantum and on the deployment of these technologies across
multiple industries and commercial usecases. Prior to joining RAND, Mac was a Research
Fellow in Emerging Technology at the Lloyds Banking Group Centre for Responsible Business,
University of Birmingham (UoB) Business School, a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the
UoB School of Law, and a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge Judge Business
School, Centre for Alternative Finance. In addition to her research activities, Mac is a member
of the British Standards Institute's Technical Committee on Blockchain Standards, is as part of
the UK Cabinet Office’s Open Innovation Team Community of Interest on Blockchain and
Distributed Ledger Technologies, a contributing expert African Union High Level Panel on
Emerging Technology (APET)’s reports on Blockchain and AI and is a member of the UK
Digital Currency Association and the White Chapel Think Tank on Distributed Ledger

Blockchain Technology, as a Research Associate and the Warwick Business School AI
Innovation Network (AIIN). Mac holds a PhD in Law from the University of Warwick, School of
Law, a Masters in Law (LLM) in Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation from the
University of Warwick, a Masters in Public Policy (MPP,) specialising in Economics, from the
National University of Singapore and a Bachelor's degree (Hons) in Politics and International
Relations from the University of Pretoria. Mac is the author of Cryptocurrency Regulation: A
Reflexive Law Approach.
