Ilan Kapoor is a professor of Critical Development Studies at the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change at York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is an influential postcolonial scholar, considered the first to bring both psychoanalysis and postcolonial analysis to the fields of Development Studies and Political Economy. He is the author of seven books and numerous articles on postcolonial politics, psychoanalysis, global political economy/ecology, participatory development, and celebrity humanitarianism.
