Igor Martins is a researcher in Economic History at Lund University, Sweden, where he also teaches. He holds a degree in Economics from Fundação Getulio Vargas, completed his master’s and PhD in Economic History at Lund University, and was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge, UK. His research focuses on the economic history of Atlantic slavery, labour and credit markets, and the long-run impacts of colonial institutions. He has published in journals such as *Explorations in Economic History* and the *European Review of Economic History*. He was an organiser of the 2025 World Economic History Congress and received the Teacher of the Year award at the Lund University School of Economics and Management.
