Dr Ife Adebara is a computational linguist and AI researcher whose work focuses on advancing Afrocentric NLP—equitable language technologies for African languages. For her PhD work at the University of British Columbia, Ife developed several language technologies including large language models that support 517 African languages. Her work has been published at top AI conferences including ACL, EMNLP, and NAACL and awarded the top 100 Global AI solutions by the IRCAI under the auspices of UNESCO. She co-founded EqualyzAI to create Agentic AI with the most inclusive datasets for Africa. Beyond research and engineering, she contributes to policy on responsible AI and data governance in support of the SDGs and the UN Decade of Indigenous Languages.
