- Adjunct Research Professor, Department of History, Carleton University
I serve as Executive Director of the Canadian Association for Graduate Studies (CAGS), where I am responsible for managing the national office and for advancing the interests of the association across the country. I greatly enjoy being an Adjunct Research Professor at Carleton University, where I teach an undergraduate course on the history of oil that is fully accessible and built using the principles of universal design. I strongly believe in creating bridges between students, their research, and the local community, and to these ends I volunteer as an Adjunct Curator of the History of Energy at the Canada Science and Technology Museum. Animated by an intense fascination with the past, I also research and write on the history of oil in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, seeking to demonstrate how history offers important lessons for navigating our own changing energy landscapes.
