Dr. Ian Douglas left Qantas at the beginning of 2003 and joined the strategy group of the School of Management at the University of Technology, Sydney. In 2007 he joined UNSW Aviation. Since his retirement in 2019 Ian retains an honorary Senior Lectureship at UNSW. He also is a Fellow of the Air Transport Research Society.
Ian is a regular contributor to the Civil Aviation Management Program at the Singapore Aviation Academy, and to the German Aviation Research Society Summer School. His consultancy work has extended to several carriers in Asia and Europe, and he served as a Commissioner and then Chair of the Australian International Air Services Commission.
