Houssem Ben Lazreg

Houssem Ben Lazreg, PhD, is a scholar in Modern Languages and Cultural Studies whose research explores the role of news translation in shaping and reframing geopolitical narratives in conflict zones, particularly the MENA region. He recently completed his doctorate at the University of Alberta, where his research examined the translation of media narratives surrounding the 2019 Libyan conflict through the lens of Socio-Narrative Theory in Translation and Critical Discourse Analysis. His research interests include social movements, politics and translation, Middle Eastern graphic novels, and Islamist militant movements.
