- PhD Candidate, Cardiovascular Epidemiology, University of Cambridge
I completed my undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Sport Science at Loughborough University. I then studied for an MSc in Medical Statistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2016. I then spent two years working as a statistician for clinical trials unit, working on trials related to cardiovascular medicine. In 2020, I began a PhD in Medicine at the University of Cambridge funded by the British Heart Foundation, focusing on cardiovascular epidemiology. My PhD is looking at arterial stiffness as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease to improve risk stratification for those who are at borderline risk and whether arterial stiffness can be used as a proxy measure for long-term blood pressure trajectories. I have also looked at the effects of hypertension and blood pressure on the risk of COVID-19. I have an interest in non-communicable diseases, longitudinal data and teaching statistics and making statistics more appealing to researchers of all disciplines, but particularly medical research.
