Hiroko is a Research Officer at Black Dog Institute. Her research areas encompass multiple fields, including adolescent mental health, suicide prevention and self-harm, mental health policy and system research. She is also a PhD candidate at University of New South Wales and a recipient of Helen Christensen Mental Health Scholarship. Her PhD research aims to better understand how to close socioeconomic disparities in mental health outcomes among children and adolescents with a specific focus on improving school-related stress, social and personal resources of young people. Her research aspirations is to improve population mental health and mental health equity through addressing social determinants of mental health at policy and system level.
