Hessom Razavi is an ophthalmic surgeon, trained in Western Australia, sub-specialising in Indigenous eye health and diseases of the retina and a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Western Australia. Hessom is also an award-winning writer. As Australian Book Review's inaugural Behrouz Boochani Fellow, he has written essays on refugees, statelessness, and human rights. He also writes poetry. His essay on Australia’s response to the global refugee crisis was published in The Long Lede: Stories That Want to Be Told.
