PhD from Queen Mary, University of London (2009), MA also from Queen Mary (2005), BA in History and Politics from University of Nottingham (2003). Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (admitted 2015).
Published widely on British political culture in the 'long' nineteenth century (1780-1914) including in English Historical Review, Historical Research, Parliamentary History and Cultural and Social History. Contributed over 200 biographies and constituencies histories to the History of Parliament's 1832-1868 House of Commons project.
My first book, Politics Personified: Portraiture, Caricature and Visual Culture in Britain, 1830-1880 was published by Manchester University Press in 2015.
I am currently writing a history of petitioning in Britain, 1780-1918.
