Dr Helen Hanna is passionate about the rights of educators and students in classrooms in illiberal and conflict-affected societies. A Senior Lecturer in International and Comparative Education at the Manchester Institute of Education, she has worked as an academic and educator in the UK, China, Hong Kong and Russia, and completed funded research in Thailand, England, South Africa, Hong Kong, Northern Ireland, Israel, Canada and Kenya. Her research and teaching focuses on teaching controversial issues, citizenship education, the educational experiences of migrant and ethnic minority learners, and creative research methods.
