Banks is a theatre practitioner and academic originally from Aotearoa New Zealand. She has been teaching in tertiary education since 2011 and has worked in the Theatre industry as an actor, director, writer, producer, and production manager. Her research focuses on devised theatre, with a particular interest in gender and cultural representation, reclaiming lost voices and feminist dramaturgy. She has also researched performance and representation in popular culture, feminist ethics of care, and wellbeing among creative practitioners. She completed her PhD in Theatre in 2018, this ground-breaking research explored women in devised theatre in Aotearoa New Zealand.
