Hannah De Frond is a marine scientist specialising in plastic pollution research. Hannah's work focuses on advancing plastic and microplastic research and its real-world application, aiming to bridge the gap between science and the development of evidence-based solutions to tackle this issue at local, national, and international scales. Her work spans a broad range of topics from documenting microplastics in the environment, food and drinking water, through to using technologies to cleanup plastic from waterways and coastlines.
Hannah currently works with the University of Toronto Trash Team and Ocean Conservancy to manage of the International Trash Trap Network (ITTN) - a global network of local groups using trash traps for plastic pollution cleanup, community education and engagement, and harmonized data collection to inform and motivate policies for pollution prevention.
