- Smith Conservation Fellow, University of California, Santa Barbara
Grace Wu is a David H. Smith Conservation Research Fellow with The Nature Conservancy and the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis. Grace’s research focuses on identifying and understanding the co-benefits and trade-offs between climate change mitigation strategies, including renewable energy development, other human land uses, and habitat conservation. Her prior and ongoing research applies interdisciplinary approaches to understand the impact of energy development on land use and conservation and to develop practical strategies for avoiding negative impacts while reducing barriers to the rapid scale-up of renewable energy development. She holds a BA in Biology from Pomona College, MPhil in Evolutionary Genetics from University of Cambridge, and an MS and PhD in Energy and Resources from UC Berkeley.
