I’m a Lecturer in Microbial Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Reading. My research explores how microbial communities interact with natural and artificial surfaces, and how these interactions can be harnessed to tackle challenges including antimicrobial resistance, plant health and environmental sustainability. A central focus of my work is the epibiosphere — the microbial world that develops on these surfaces — which provides a framework for understanding the ecological principles that shape surface-associated microbiomes.
