Gladys Ganiel is Research Fellow in the Senator George J Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice at Queen’s University Belfast. She works in the disciplines of sociology and politics. Her main areas of research are the Northern Ireland conflict, evangelicalism, Christianity in Ireland, the emerging church, and charismatic Christianity in Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Her books include Evangelicalism and Conflict in Northern Ireland (Palgrave 2008) and Transforming Post-Catholic Ireland (Oxford 2016). The Deconstructed Church: Understanding Emerging Christianity (Oxford 2014), co-authored with Gerardo Marti, won the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion's Distinguished Book Award.
