Giulio Ponte is a Research Engineer at CASR where he has worked since 1995. He has a degree in mechanical engineering and a graduate diploma in transport and traffic engineering. Giulio has considerable experience in all types of at-scene crash investigation, having attended and investigated more than 600 crashes to date. Giulio has a particular interest in vulnerable road user safety research and developing injury prediction models for various road crash types. Giulio is involved in several cycling related projects, developing technologies to evaluate minimum passing distance compliance as well as a smart cities project to develop software to detect cyclists from video. Giulio has evaluated technology designed to block mobile phones and video technology to observe in-vehicle distractions.
