Gita is an early-career marine scientist and currently a marine biologist at the Indo Ocean Foundation in Bali, Indonesia. She holds a master’s degree in marine science from one of Indonesia’s leading universities and has built expertise through extensive field and analytical work across coral reef ecosystems throughout Indonesia. While her foundation lies in reef restoration, Gita’s research now spans fish diversity, megafauna, other coastal marine species, and the socio-economics of coastal communities, reflecting her commitment to advancing applied marine science. She has led and contributed to field research and monitoring across Indonesia, published in respected international journals, and secured grants supporting scientific and diving development. She is driven by the pursuit of evidence-based strategies for reef conservation, aiming to identify research gaps and generate insights that contribute to the resilience of marine ecosystems.
