Giorgia Giardina

(She/her)

Giorgia Giardina is an Associate Professor in Geo-Monitoring and Data Analytics at Delft University of Technology. Prior to joining TU Delft, Dr. Giardina was a lecturer at the University of Bath, a visiting professor at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a research associate and a Junior Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge, and she was awarded a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship. She is the "Sensing from Space" theme leader at the Delft Space Institute and a research associate at the 4TU.Centre for Resilience Engineering. She is also a member of the Earthquake Engineering Field Investigation Team (EEFIT) and the International Scientific Committee on the Analysis and Restoration of Structures of Architectural Heritage (ISCARSAH).

Her research focuses on increasing urban resilience by evaluating the vulnerability of buildings and infrastructure. By integrating remote sensing data, experimental testing, and computational modelling, she analyses the response of existing structures to urbanisation, earthquakes, and the effects of climate change. Her interests include remote sensing and computational modelling, climate change resilience, risk and damage assessment, heritage protection, seismic vulnerability and retrofitting, tunnelling and underground excavations, and settlement-induced structural damage.
