Gillian McFadyen

Gillian is Lecturer in the Department of International Politics Aberystwyth University. She teaches and researches in the area of refugee politics. She is particularly interested in refugee law, the British Asylum system, EU asylum processes, as well as theories of hospitality, labelling and postcolonialism. She is also focused on local, grass-root practices of solidarity and hospitality.

Gillian's first book, Refugees in Britain was published with Edinburgh University Press (2020). In addition, she has written on memory and trauma, international refugee law, the hostile environment and refugee propaganda,
