II am an Associate Professor at the Universidade de Vigo (UVigo) since 2024. I joined UVigo in 2018 as a Distinguished Researcher and was later awarded a Beatriz Galindo Fellowship, which I held from January 2021. From 2018 to 2023, I also held an Honorary Senior Lectureship at the Australian National University (ANU).

Earlier in my career, I held postdoctoral positions at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and at ANU. I have been a visiting scientist at several prestigious institutions, including the National Oceanography Centre Southampton (University of Southampton, UK), the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (Columbia University, USA), and the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Cambridge (UK).

My research focuses on: (a) ocean–atmosphere–cryosphere interactions during glacial–interglacial cycles; (b) ocean–atmosphere CO₂ exchange; (c) (paleo)climate sensitivity; and (d) paleoceanography of the Mediterranean Sea.

I am committed to science communication, especially on climate-related topics, through engagement with the popular science media and broader public—including outreach aimed at fostering interest within society and the business sector.

A the UVigo, I coordinate courses at all academic levels (Bachelor, Master, PhD), while I have contributed to advanced international training programs, such as the Urbino Summer School in Paleoclimatology.
