Giacomo Biggio is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Bristol School of Law, where he teaches International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law.
His research interest lie at the intersection between new technologies, especially cyber, International Humanitarian Law, and the law on the use of force. To this end, he has published articles on how the notion of ‘attack’ should be interpreted in the cyber domain, and on the regulatory regime for cyber weapons. His most recent article on the Journal of International Humanitarian Legal Studies discusses the status of hackers in the Russia-Ukraine armed conflict.
He is currently researching a paper on the legal regulation of cyber-attacks against civilian satellites.
