I am a Ph.D. candidate in Environmental Science at the University of Arizona. My research in Tfaily Lab examines how microbial communities and their metabolic activity influence the transformation of organic matter and the development of ecosystems under changing environmental conditions. My work aims to bridge molecular processes with ecological outcomes to better understand the mechanisms that drive ecosystem dynamics.
Specifically, my work centers on two major contexts: natural ecological succession, where I study how microbial communities and metabolites co-develop as ecosystems mature, and climate change impacts, where I investigate how shifts in vegetation alter ecosystem functioning in vulnerable systems such as peatlands.
