I hold a PhD in Development Economics from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Japan (2018-2022), with a thesis on impact evaluations of education and health policies in Southern Africa. I also earned a Master of Arts in International Economics from GRIPS (2016-2018), a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe (2012-2015), and a Bachelor of Science Honours in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe (2004-2007). My academic training includes advanced courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, development economics, game theory, and applied time series analysis.
Professionally, I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pretoria's Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences (2023-present), where I conduct research on climate change, just energy transitions, green jobs, youth unemployment, green hydrogen, and green skills requirements. I collaborate with academic and industry partners, teach and supervise students, prepare grant proposals, and present findings at conferences. Prior to this, I served as a Senior Economist at Zimbabwe's Ministry of Industry and Commerce (2009-2016), focusing on policy analysis and economic development. My work has resulted in several peer-reviewed publications in journals like the Journal of Health, Population and Nutrition, Development Southern Africa, Australian Economic Papers, and AIDS Care, along with ongoing working papers on topics such as unemployment, skills mismatch, and gender dynamics in energy transitions.
