- Post doctoral fellow and Conservation Ecologist, Macquarie University
I have always felt a strong custodianship of wild places and a fascination with wild animals. My research focuses on the conservation and restoration of ecosystems using evolutionary insights. I investigate:
i) General wildlife ecology – Fundamental life history and ecological research to broaden our understanding of wildlife populations. In particular, I explore drivers of ecological functionality in native systems.
ii) Evolutionary basis of animal behaviour – Identifying the mechanisms of behavioural variation in wild animals, and exploring these for species conservation.
iii) Conservation strategies – I aim to develop novel and workable solutions to environmental problems such as invasions, habitat destruction and human wildlife conflict. Importantly, I understand that conservation is an interface between science and people. As such I collaborate widely with an amazing array of stakeholders, including Wildlife organisations, Governments, and NGOs.
