Georgia Panagiotaki

(She/Her)

Georgia is an Associate Professor in Psychology at the Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia. She leads the psychology theme for the undergraduate and graduate entry medicine courses. She teaches developmental and health psychology, consultation skills, and reflective practice. She is the well-being lead for the medical programmes at Norwich Medical School and leads UEA's Interprofessional Schwartz Rounds.

Her research has evolved from the study of children’s conceptual development in the domain of astronomy, to the study of children’s understanding of biology, the human body, and the concepts of life, health, illness and death. Her research explores the relationship between school children’s knowledge of the functioning of the human body and their ideas about what constitutes healthy food and physical activity. She is also interested in how culture, experiences and parental discourse influence children’s reasoning in the domain of biology, with a particular focus on their ideas around the concepts of life and death.

Georgia also has a keen interest in medical education. Her recent research explores the impact of Schwartz Rounds as an innovative way of supporting health professional students’ reflective practice, interprofessional learning and compassionate care.
