- Professor, International Centre of Nonviolence, Durban University of Technology
I am a development economist by training but over the past 25 years or so have increasingly moved into peace studies.
My economics research has principally been in labour economics, the evaluation of government projects/programmes and economic aspects of security.
My peace studies research began in the 1980s, focussing on various economic aspects of military expenditure.
My current research focusses on security sector reform and the relationship between economic inequality and inter-personal violence.
