Geoffrey Hodgson

Professor Hodgson is a specialist in institutional and evolutionary economics, with a background in economics, philosophy and mathematics.
He has been an economist for five decades, during which time he has done extensive research examining authoritarianism, socialism and the crises of left-wing politics and economics.
Since 2019 he has also been involved with colleagues, including political scientist Gerhard Schnyder, on a research project looking into the growth of populism.
I has written about his journey in evolutionary economics in the upcoming book: From Marx to Markets, An Intellectual Odyssey which was a personal quest to understand a complex and rapidly evolving world.
Professor Hodgson is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Institutional Economics.
He has published 18 academic books and over 150 academic articles, which he is the winner of the Schumpeter Prize 2014 for his book on "Conceptualizing Capitalism".
He has honorary doctorates from the Russian Academy of Sciences and the University Of Thessaly, Greece.
His research has applications to the understanding of organisations, organisational change, innovation, entrepreneurship and economic development.
