- Conjoint Senior Lecturer, School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Newcastle
My interest in sleep first began in 2006 as an Honours student at the University of Adelaide. In 2014 I was awarded my PhD from the University of South Australia, where I investigated the impacts of sleep loss and disrupted sleep on sleep and performance. I recently returned back to Australia from the USA where I worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at Washington State University in Spokane, Washington and later at Rush University Medical College in Chicago, Illinois.
I currently work as a conjoint at the University of Newcastle and Senior Scientist in the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. My research interests include the effects of poor sleep on health and daytime functioning, circadian rhythms, and how we can better manage and treat sleep disorders and poor sleep. I am passionate about improving the sleep health of all Australian's, and promoting sleep as the third pillar of a healthy lifestyle.
