Gemma Mann

Dr Gemma Mann is a senior lecturer and researcher in Access and Equity at CQUniversity in Queensland. Her background is in pure physics and mathematics with a PhD in Engineering. After completing a Masters in Education she has diversified her research portfolio to incorporate mathematics and science education, access to and diversity in higher education, and impacts of diversity education around gender and sexual orientation. Gemma has multiple roles in an Enabling (also knowns as pathway or bridging) course, including academic and pastoral advising, and teaching mathematics and physics. She is research active in scholarship in these areas. In addition, since 2008, she has implemented, coordinated, developed and been the lead trainer of the CQUniversity Ally Program for networking, support and training around diversity across students, professional staff, academics, policy, and the community. Her current research projects use her 17 years of work in this discipline to embed diversity education in higher education across disciplines and courses to develop research-based resources for educators and students to better understand diversity and incorporate it into practice across a wide range of graduate professions.
