People living in poverty or disadvantage are three times more likely to die from COVID than the wealthy.
- Professor, UNSW
While men and women experience disability at similar rates, men are more likely to be diagnosed with disabilities that are more straightforward to gain access to the NDIS for.
Without appropriate support, it’s more likely people will break COVID restrictions, for example go to work, or gather in family groups for support.
If you’re poor, female, or live in rural Australia, you’re less likely to access the NDIS or get as much bang for your buck.
