Gaelle Planchenault

Gaelle Planchenault is an associate Professor in French Media, Culture and Applied Linguistics at Simon Fraser University. Her research examines language in films and in the media, the ideologies that underpin discursive performances, as well as the role that they play in sustaining prejudices towards ethnic and minority groups. She is currently studying the multimodal production of discourses of anger and suffering in the media, looking at the intersection of gender, race and age in visual and linguistic representations.
