I am an Assistant Professor of Political Science and Public Law at California State University, Los Angeles. I am currently completing a book called Migrant Labor State: Foreign Workers and the Law in American Political Development through the generous support of the National Endowment of the Humanities.

I have previously published in flagship academic journals including Law & Policy, Journal of Social History, Law & Social Inquiry, the American Journal of Legal History, Studies in Law, Politics, and Society, Antipode, and New Labor Forum. I have also published for the Washington Post Made By History column and the Harvard Design Magazine, among others.

In 2023-2024, I was a visiting scholar at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. I am also a former fellow in the history of American capitalism at Harvard. I teach courses in law, political science, and immigration.
