I am interested in a wide range of topics from the fields of reproductive biology, behavioural ecology, functional morphology and systematics from an evolutionary biology perspective. I am particularly interested in reproductive strategies and their morphological basis. A new research focus is the investigation of the reasons for the range expansion of the wasp spider. We want to know to what extent the northern and southern populations differ in their behaviour, morphology and genetics. We are also investigating the importance of phenotypic plasticity by looking at changes in brain structures under the influence of different environmental conditions. Chemical ecology is another important pillar of our research. We combine behavioural, histological, ultrastructural and molecular methods.
