- PhD Candidate, Women's Mental Health & Brain Function, University of Tübingen
Franziska Weinmar is a PhD researcher in psychoneuroendocrinology at the University of Tübingen, Germany, and a member of the DFG-funded International Research Training Group “Women’s Mental Health Across the Reproductive Years” (IRTG 2804). Her research examines women’s mental health across major hormonal transitions of adulthood, including the perinatal and menopausal transition.
Her work investigates how fluctuations in ovarian hormones shape emotion regulation, brain function and vulnerability to mental health disorders. Using interdisciplinary approaches that integrate behavioural measures, hormonal assessments and neuroimaging, she aims to advance understanding of the biopsychosocial mechanisms linking hormonal regulation, brain plasticity and mental health across the female lifespan.
Alongside her research, she is engaged in science communication and public outreach. She hosts the podcast "Let’s Talk About Women", where she speaks with international researchers about women’s brain health, hormones and mental wellbeing, with the aim of making scientific insights accessible to broader audiences.
