I obtained my PhD from the University of Strasbourg in 1995, my work was focused on functional and structural studies of amino-acyl-tRNA synthetases at IBMC in Strasbourg under the supervision of Dr Jean Gangloff. Then, as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Prof Daniel Schümperli in Bern (Switzerland), I investigated the mRNA metabolism of histone mRNAs and more specifically the 3’ end processing of these particular mRNAs. In 1999, I was recruited by the CNRS as a permanent researcher at IBMC. In 2012, I obtained my habilitation and got promoted to research director in 2017. I'm currently group leader of a team investigating fundamental aspects of translation in physiological conditions and in pathological contexts such as viral infections and neurodegenerative diseases. I'm conducting mechanistic studies on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Alzheimer’s Disease in collaboration with Clotide Lagier-Tourenne (Harvard- USA) and Luc Buée (Lille) respectively.
