I have a Ph.D. in organizational analysis from the University of Alberta; a Bachelor of Business Administration with majors in business and English, an MBA, and a Certificate in Liberal Arts from Simon Fraser University; and a Certificate in General Studies from Thompson Rivers University.
I am Professor Emerita in the School of Business at the University of the Fraser Valley, where I was a faculty member from 1995 to 2021. I also served as Associate Dean of the UFV Faculty of Professional Studies and as the Coordinator of UFV's Program Development Office.
I am the author of the textbook Industrial Relations in Canada, published by John Wiley and Sons. The textbook is in its fourth edition and is used at more than 30 Canadian universities and colleges. I am currently a member at large on the executive of the Canadian Industrial Relations Association, and have served several terms on the board of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada.
My research has been published in journals such as the Journal of Scholarly Publishing, Academy of Management Executive, the Canadian Journal of Administrative Studies, the Canadian Journal of Higher Education, Relations Industrielles/Industrial Relations, Leisure/Loisir, and Management and Organizational History. I have provided commentary on workplace issues to media outlets such as the CBC (radio and television), the Globe and Mail, the Vancouver Sun, Canadian Press, and Global TV. I write a blog, All About Work, on issues around work and organizations.
