Dr. Fernando Veiga Suárez (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9311-8635): Doctor in Industrial Engineering and Graduate in Industrial Engineering from the University of Navarra. He worked as a senior researcher at Tecnalia as an expert in modeling and monitoring manufacturing processes, combining them with teaching as Associate Professor of Industrial Drawing and Technical Office at the Public University of Navarra (UPNA). He has currently joined the UPNA staff as a PhD Contract Professor. The main merits that I believe make him worthy of the accreditation as Principal Investigator begin with the doctoral thesis that I successfully defended and an Outstanding Cum Laude. The topic dealt with the analytical modeling of heat generation in friction and orthogonal cutting processes. This basic and experimental research into cutting mechanics allowed me to acquire the necessary knowledge to join the center of the Basque Tecnalia Research and Innovation network as a researcher, where I have carried out my professional activity uninterruptedly from 2011 to 2022. He has participated in countless projects, both national and European and both basic research and industrial development, of which the majority are related to the scope of this area. Among these projects, it is worth highlighting the European projects MuProd; forZDM, Reform, etc., the subsidy projects from the Eusko Jaurlaritza: Procoda, Haritive, Manufacturing 0.0, Euskaddi, etc. and at the AGE level, projects such as: INNOSOLD and TEMPROCEN. The work carried out in these years in various projects has allowed him to be co-author of 50 scientific articles, 45 of them in JCR indexed journals, 43 in Q1 or Q2 journals. The topics on which he has published his scientific contributions focus on knowledge related to manufacturing processes, beginning his work in more mature technologies such as machining and later focusing on additive manufacturing processes in metals. His publications have received the attention of the scientific community with more than 1000 citations received and an H24 index according to the Scopus database. Likewise, he has been co-director of a thesis completed in 2019 and is currently coordinating 3 others that he hopes to help finish in the coming years. The topics cover monitoring and modeling in manufacturing processes such as: chip removal machining, joining technologies and additive manufacturing. Despite having collaborated in the ideation of products and/or processes that have been patented, I cannot prove any patents or inventions, but I can prove four industrial secrets.
