Felix Schilk's research interests include the relationship between right-wing extremism, conservatism, populism, conspiracy theories, anti-Semitism and esotericism, which he examines from a sociology of knowledge and discourse analysis perspective, political conversions as well as historical sociology, political sociology, cultural sociology, architectural sociology and transformation research in post-socialist spaces.
Since May 2023, he has been a research assistant in the CHANSE project "REDACT: Researching Europe, Digitalisation and Conspiracy Theories" , which will be carried out at the English Department under the direction of Prof. Dr. Michael Butter from November 2022 to October 2025. He studied sociology and educational sciences from 2009 to 2016 at the Technical University of Dresden and the Université Paul-Valéry-Montpellier and completed his studies with the thesis "Sovereignty instead of complexity. How the Querfront magazine 'Compact' is dealing with the political legitimacy crisis of the present" , which was published in 2017 in the series of publications of the Duisburg Institute for Language and Social Research. From 2016 to 2018 he worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Sociological Theories and Cultural Sociology at the TU Dresden. His dissertation "The New Right Narrative Community. A Sociology of Conservative Crisis Narratives", funded by a doctoral scholarship from the Hans Böckler Foundation, was submitted to the Faculty of Philosophy at TU Dresden in May 2023.
