Felix Arndt is the Eyton Director at the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business and a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Global Strategy at the University of Waterloo, Canada. He is also a Research Fellow at the Center for Business and Sports of the Stockholm School of Economics, Sweden. Before joining the University of Waterloo, he held professorial and administrative positions with responsibility for the full range of research programs, executive programs, departmental leadership, and international partnerships in Canada, the UK, Norway and China.
Dr. Arndt’s passion is to debunk common misperceptions in business. His research changes the way of how to look at entrepreneurial management. His research agenda is centrally driven by the question of how novelty/change comes about in business settings. Core drivers of these changes include how we see (international) strategy, entrepreneurship, and innovation. His work includes research on different and dynamic institutional contexts, technological change (currently AI), the emergence and role of new actors in industries and entrepreneurs that initiate changes. Another central aspect of his work is the increasing focus on sustainability and corporate social responsibility as well as inclusiveness as some of the drivers of the dynamics.
His work has been published or is about to be published in the Academy of Management Review, the British Journal of Management, the Journal of International Business Studies, the Journal of Management Studies, the Academy of Management Collections, OBHDP, Human Resource Management among others. Felix is the Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, an Associate Editor of the British Journal of Management and Strategic Change. He is on the editorial board of journals such as the Journal of Management, Journal of Product Innovation Management, European Management Journal among others. Felix is a Representative-at-Large of the Entrepreneurship Division at the Academy of Management (AoM), and a BAM PRC Fellow. He is a former member of the board of directors at the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM). Felix held grants by major funding agencies such as the Chinese National Science Foundation, British Academy / Leverhulme, Swiss National Foundation, Mitacs, SSHRC, NSERC, and OMAFRA among others.
Teaching for Felix is a passion and a privilege. He taught in top-ranked Master, MBA, and EMBA programs around the world. Felix has been involved in the foundation of several entrepreneurship centers, and entrepreneurship and executive programs teaching a range of topics from innovation, entrepreneurship, strategy, and leadership to international business.
Felix is an active entrepreneur and investor. As an engineer by training, he is fascinated by new technologies and their application. He has held patents, has experience as an entrepreneur, on the director level in consulting, and as a lobbyist. Felix is a recognized executive and start-up coach who provides consulting services to the private sector and policy advice to the government and supranational institutions such as the Worldbank. He is currently a board member of Boundless Accelerator.
