Faye is Associate Professor at Edinburgh Napier University. She is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (formerly the Higher Education Academy).

Over the last fifteen years she has worked on improving the recognition of facial composites (‘E-FITs’) of suspects using different software systems, and is broadly interested in the psychology of evidence in relation to miscarriages of justice. She has conducted qualitative work examining experiences of those who have been wrongfully convicted and imprisoned, as well as the impact of Covid-19 on the Justice Voluntary Sector in Scotland. As part of EU COST Action CA22128 "Implemendez" she is also investigating barriers and facilitators to implementation of ethical investigative interviewing practices, aimed at reducing miscarriages of justice via improved witness evidence and prevention of false confessions.

An experienced public engagement performer, Faye has written and performed shows on miscarriages of justice, false confessions, eyewitness testimony, and lie detection for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Edinburgh International Festival, Northern Ireland Science Festival, and Cheltenham Science Festival, as well as to several other Skeptics and specialist groups across the UK. In 2024 she featured in Channel 5 documentaries "Lucy Letby: did she really do it?" and "Lucy Letby: the new evidence" and in 2019 featured in the BBC’s popular "Witch Hunt" podcast.
