Fatme Abdallah

(She/Her)

Fatme (Fatima) Abdallah is a PhD candidate at Western University’s Department of English and Writing Studies and a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) doctoral fellow. Her research interests include postcolonial feminisms, prison literature, literary geographies, and memory studies. Her latest academic publications have appeared in journals such as Studies in Canadian Literature and Journal of Palestine Studies while her creative work has appeared in Arab and Arab Lit Quarterly, The Lamp, and Queen's Quarterly.

Her current research interrogates the intersections of collective memory and resistance in different genres of Palestinian women’s prison writing. She emphasizes a reading of collective memory through "tatreez al-zakira" or "embroidering memory" that asserts the power of imaginative narrations of the past in the process of stitching together a viable future.
