Dr Fatemeh Sadeghi is a political scientist specialising in political thought and imagination, gender and politics, feminist theories, and constitutional thought. Her research focuses on decolonizing political thought and feminist theories in the Global South, particularly in Iran.

She is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the UCL Institute for Global Prosperity (IGP) where her research focuses on the imaginative dimensions of politics. Her research focuses on political imagination as a socially constructed and intersubjective phenomenon that evolves through a creative and cognitive process. She is currently working on a book manuscript tentatively titled The Age of Appearance: Imaginary Politics in Contemporary Iran, which investigates the unknowable, hypothetical, and future-oriented aspects of Iranian politics.

Previously, she worked on the ERC-funded TAKHAYYUL project studying the imaginative landscpae of Islamist politics from Balkans to Bengal. She also studied gender and sexuality in jurisprudential doctrines in Zoroastrianism and the early Islamic era, gender in nationalist and Islamist ideologies and practices including the unveiling campaign of the first Pahlavi in Iran, and the compulsory hijab of the Islamic Republic.
