Dr. Farhad Maleki is the Director of the Centre for Precision Agriculture and Sustainability and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Calgary. His research focuses on developing artificial intelligence (AI) models to address complex, real-world challenges, with a particular emphasis on applications in agriculture and healthcare.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Maleki completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Augmented Intelligence & Precision Health Laboratory (AIPHL) at McGill University, where he specialized in machine learning techniques for medical image analysis. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan, where his research focused on developing computational methods for analyzing genomics and proteomics data.

Dr. Maleki has held several leadership roles in academic communities, including serving as President of the Association of Postdoctoral Fellows at McGill University and President of the Computer Science Graduate Council at the University of Saskatchewan. He is currently a member of the Machine Learning Education Sub-Committee of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine.
