Fares Ahmad is a Ph.D. candidate in the Technology Management Department. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida and his Master of Social Science from UCLA. He has over a decade of international experience scaling technologies for organizations such as Procter & Gamble, Apple, Boeing, and GE Aviation. Broadly, his research interests span technology, organizing, and emotions. Fares is currently studying the intersection of compassion and technology, with a focus on how AI influences our ability to notice, feel, and alleviate suffering in organizational life. Additionally, his research aims to unpack human-AI work practices in highly emotional contexts, the transformation of human-centered socialization in the age of AI, and how organizational dynamics shift when AI surfaces emotions at work. He is also in training for licensure as a professional clinical counselor and marriage and family therapist.
