Fanus is a hydrogeologist with 29 years experience in the groundwater industry. He specialise in groundwater management, planning and managed aquifer recharge. He is registered from 2026 as a PhD candidate at the Institute of Groundwater Studies at the University of the Free State. His research deal with the effect of managed aquifer recharge on aquifer in drought and their response.
