Dr Svingen is an Associate Professor of Criminology at the University of Birmingham, researching the biosocial mechanisms of rule-breaking behaviour. Her monograph, 'Evolutionary Criminology and Cooperation', won the European Society of Criminology Book Award in 2024, and she later co-edited a collection called 'Youth Deviance, Crime and Justice' that focuses on the neuro-psycho-criminological perspective of reducing crime in young people.
